Places to Fish from Shore

Memorial Park in Chincoteague Virginia

Memorial Park is a beautiful family oriented spot in Chincoteague to fish from land. The park has tennis courts, basketball courts, playground equipment, fishing/crabbing pier, ball field, boat ramp, pavilion and restrooms. Flounder, small bluefish, rockfish, white perch, trout, sandbar sharks, dog sharks, sea bass and eels are some of the fish you may find. The pier is on a hard turn and the bottom is deep and rough out in front of the pier. Baitfish mingle around the pier and ramp and can be cast netted here.

A ramp is available for boaters but a permit is required to use it. Powerboaters and Kayakers can launch and explore the area further. To the south is a sandy beach which can be reached by small boat. Check with local tackle shops or VMRC for fishing regulations.
