The Parking Lot Wreck

Information about the area known as the Parking Lot, including a wreck known locally as "big steel barge". This high profile wreck is intact in about 90 feet of water. It sits on a hill just inside the 20 fathom line about 25 miles east of Chincoteague Inlet.

The Parking Lot wreck is heavily visited by divers, commercial fishermen and recreational anglers. It is best known as a popular bluefin tuna chunking spot but anglers also catch sea bass, triggerfish, bluefish, sharks, king mackerel, and dolphin at times.
