Fishing Structure

Just like in freshwater fishing, mastering structure fishing is critical to saltwater fishing success. In the Chesapeake Bay, structure includes things like wrecks, reefs, oyster bars, grassbeds, rips, channel edges.

In the Atlantic, many of the same structure hold fish. In addition, the possibilities include sea bass pot buoys, lobster gear buoys, weedlines and floating objects.

One type of ocean structure not to be overlooked are scallopboats. The bycatch that goes back overboard attracts tuna, dolphin and sharks to the area. When several scallopers congregate on a small area, fish can be concentrated and feeding actively.
