landlocked atlantic salmon

Anglers around the world consider the Atlantic salmon to be one of the most highly respected gamefish. In North America, wild Atlantic salmon occur in a number of environments.

Although they were once plentiful, sea run Atlantic salmon have declined greatly. In the Northeast USA, anadromous Atlantic salmon populations are limited to a few rivers in Maine.

In New York, populations of landlocked Atlantic salmon exist in several waterways, including Lakes Ontario, Champlain, Cayuga, Seneca, and a few small impoundments in the Adirondacks.
