This Page provides some information on the Blackfish Banks Artificial Reef off coast of Chincoteague, Virginia. The reef
has been constructed in two phases. The first reef is composed of tanks dispersed near the buoy. The second phase added railcars east of the buoy. The
material sits in roughly 60-70 feet. just east of buoy 8A. The reef tends to hold some small sea bass and other structure oriented fish. It is a good area to
drift for flounder and trout. The reef is also visited by amberjacks, jack crevelle and a variety of sharks.
