chesapeake bay bridge

Spanning more than 4 miles of the Chesapeake Bay from Annapolis to Kent Island, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is one of the region’s top fishing destinations.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge supports fisheries for striped bass (rockfish), white perch, bluefish, and other species.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge opened to traffic on July 30, 1952. The bridge’s two-lane original span was, at the time, the world’s longest continuous over-water steel bridge. The second span was completed on June 28, 1973.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge traffic reports, weather conditions, and other information is available at baybridge.com or by calling 1-877-BAYSPAN.
