Spot, small perch and other baits can be caught using a variety of
traps. Peeler pots will catch spot but some users make a special trap
which is designed to catch fish more than crabs. Cans of
cat food are sometimes pierced enough to leak and used for bait in spot
traps. Other bait can be caught or purchased for attracting baitfish to
the trap. Always check local regulations before attempting to catch
bait.
Note the special doors on this style trap that allow fish to enter
but make it difficult for a crab to enter. This trap is hand made from
galvanized wire.
