Piney Run Reservoir is located in Carroll County, Maryland. This 300 acre man-made lake is owned and maintained by Carroll County Department of Parks and Recreation.

The lake is known for its clear water, although an abundance of aquatic vegetation can hinder angling during summer and fall. Access is available in Piney Run park, including floating piers and platforms for fishing.

Piney Run Reservoir Fish Species

Piney Run Reservoir has populations of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie, redear sunfish, bluegill, pumpkinseed sunfish, redbreast sunfish, yellow perch, channel catfish, brown bullhead, striped bass, tiger musky, white sucker, golden shiner, and other species. Rainbow trout are stocked in the reservoir as part of the Maryland Put-and-Take trout program.
