The white catfish is one of the most common freshwater catfish found in lakes, reservoirs, ponds, and rivers of the Mid Atlantic. They are often mistaken for brown bullheads or channel catfish.
As their name implies, the species can be identified by its white-colored chin barbels. White catfish can also be identified by their high backs and moderately forked tails.
White catfish are caught using scent-producing baits. They will also take small jigs, soft plastic worms, and other artificial lures fished near the bottom.
