Located within Fort Smallwood Park, the 380 foot Bill Burton Fishing Pier provides anglers with access to the Patapsco River. The pier is a popular location for saltwater fishing, crabbing, birdwatching, and other activities. Anglers fishing this pier catch striped bass, white perch, croaker, and other species.

Fort Smallwood Park is near the Chesapeake Bay at the junction of the Patapsco River and Rock Creek. In addition to the fishing pier, the park contains an area for launching kayaks and other cartop boats. Fort Smallwood Park is operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks.
