Mid Atlantic Surf Fishing
The Mid Atlantic region has hundreds of miles of coastal beaches that are suitable for surf fishing. In most locations, surf fishing is more popular in spring and fall, although some anglers fish almost year round.
Delaware anglers fish from oceanfront beaches as well as the shores of the Delaware Bay. In Maryland, access to the beach starts at Ocean City and extends thru Assateague State Park in Maryland and Assateague National Seashore in Virginia. South of Assateague, Virginia, access is by boat only on the Eastern Shore. In Hampton Roads, surf anglers fish from Cape Henry to the North Carolina border.
In North Carolina, the Outer Banks (OBX) region has some of the best surf fishing opportunities in North America. Anglers catch fish almost year round, including striped bass, red drum, black drum, bluefish, flounder, spot, croaker, kingfish, pompano, and other species.
